Happy Birthday Daddy
My father turns 60 years old today. A milestone birthday for the most amazing man. There isn’t a memory I have that doesn’t include my father. We have a very close and understanding relationship. At least I think so. He may have a different take considering he has three daughters.
No man is perfect, much less a human and we all have our flaws. I cannot by any means say my father is perfect because let’s be honest, he isn’t. But he did the best he could and I hope learned from the past.
I know when I was younger, he was my dedicated driver: taking me to pre-school in Pepper Village - whether our car was working or if it broke down on the side of the road when he was coming to get me. When we moved to Brooklyn, I like to think we grew up together. We played video games, I held the flashlight when he fixed things, he showed me how to pump gas, how listening to the way a car sounds to troubleshoot a problem. These aren’t normal things a little girl learns. I should of been focused on dolls or play dates.
Today, I thank him for being my dad and wish him a Happy Birthday.
